The average age of the vines currently present is about 30 years. This allows the production of white wines with especially intense and persistent aromas and full-bodied, well-structured red wines. Over the years it grew to become a farm land of 15 hectares completely planted vineyards. The annual production is about 70,000 bottles; therefore, they can still be considered a family producer. The entire production cycle takes place in the winery, and therefore it is personal care of the Padroggi family. The Padroggi family has, for generations, been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine and wine production. The company founder, Luigi, and his sons Gabriel and Mario have dedicated their lives to the founding and expansion of the company. Finally the third generation of winemakers did join the company. The young Enrico and Luca joined their fathers in the technical, productive and commercial parts. Their intention is to continue the process begun by their grandfather; especially bringing new ideas to the company from the point of view of the image and production. In 2013 La Piotta became part of the FIVI – Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers. Located in Murphys, in the heart of the Sierra Foothills in California’s scenic Gold Rush Country, Ironstone is a state-of-the-art wine production facility.

The story of Ironstone Vineyards started in the hands of John Kautz, a young row crop farmer from Lodi who saw the future in growing wine grapes in Lodi. With 12 acres in 1948, John quickly built an excellent reputation as a premium wine grape supplier. In 1988, John, his wife Gail and their children dedicated themselves to the creation of a wine of their own, they brought award-winning winemaker Steve Millier aboard to launch Kautz wines, which would evolve into Ironstone Vineyards, a wine brand dedicated to the production of exceptional wines of unparalleled quality, outstanding value and everyday approachability.

The winery was built in the style of a 19th century gold stamp mill and has antiques and gold mining artifacts on display throughout the facility. Ironstone offers a Tasting Room and Music Room, where you can find the fully restored Alhambra Theatre Pipe Organ. The facility also boasts Meeting and Banquet Facilities, an Outdoor Amphitheatre, Wine Aging Caverns and a Culinary Demonstration Kitchen.

At Ironstone Vineyards, a healthy environment is important. By practicing Sustainable Viticulture, they are reducing water use, building healthy soil, and maintaining the surrounding wildlife habitat.

Sustainable Viticulture is a comprehensive time-honored approach to vineyard management that involves all aspects of grape growing. This includes human resources, soil management, pest management, habitat management, and the wine making process.

ironstonevineyards.com

Ironstone Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel

Aromo Viognier

Aromo Viognier is a full bodied white with a rich background of savoury notes, a very aromatic peach, apricot and mayblossom fruit character, but without any sweetness. It has 75,000 acres (30,000ha) under vine, and has traditionally been associated with quantity rather than quality. But this is rapidly changing – the bulk-producing Pais vine is gradually being replaced with more international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere, and careful winemaking practices are being employed to make some world-class red wines from old-vine Carignan.

Maule Valley was one of the first areas in Chile to be planted to vine, and its viticultural history stretches back to the start of colonisation by the Spanish.

One of the more southern of Chile's wine-growing areas, Maule is slightly cooler than its northerly cousins and has higher annual rainfall, most of which occurs during winter. The intensity of the sunlight is high (as it is in much of Chile) and Maule enjoys warm days followed by much colder nights, extending the growing season and leading to a balance of ripeness and acidity in the grapes.

http://www.wine-searcher.com/regions-maule+valley

Aromo Viognier - Hay Wines
