Domaine des Brosses Sancerre 2018
The Girard family have 6 different parcels of Sancerre vineyards. Their hillside vineyards are located on classic clay and chalk soils, giving the grippy, mineral style expected of true Sancerre. Domaine des Brosses has used a machine harvester to collect the grapes since 1989. This is so that the Sauvignon Blanc is brought to the winery in the coolness of night-time, thus retaining the classic citrus and gooseberry aromas and flavours of Sancerre.
Pale yellow in colour. The nose is fresh and full of hay, citrus and mineral notes. The palate is medium in body with crisp lemon acidity and an appealing creamy complexity alongside the ripe peach, elderflower and mineral flavours which last well on the long finish.

Domaine des Ballandors Quincy 2018
This is the village adjacent to Sancerre and Pouilly Fume where wines of similar style are made but because of Quincy’s ‘lesser’ name at much reduced cost. This wine is a testament to that; the flavours and aromas achieved in this wine are equivalent to any top flight Sancerre, with ‘grippy’ edgy grapefruit notes and steely crisp fruit. When Anton Beukes, winemaker at the Môreson Winery in South Africa, tasted this wine at supper, he said; ‘This is the wine I would love to make’ - Anton makes some very serious wines, so what an accolade! Winner of Best French White Wine at ‘France under one roof’ London 2005.
