During this tasting evening, hosted by Frantiska Kasparova of Tenuta di Angoris (one of the oldest vineyards of the region, directly imported into the UK by Hay Wines), we will take a tour of Friuli Venezia Giulia's different terroirs and grape varieties. ‘BACK TO THE USSR’
A palate-dancing retro revival for the modern age of some classic and delicious dishes from the ex-Soviet Union and the now independent countries that comprised and survived it, along with accompanying wine matches. The cuisine from this culturally divided and diverse region thrives and is fascinating, earthy, rich and full of the character and soul. Family recipes lovingly recorded and passed down through generations. This menu is dedicated to all those things, and to the wonderful Ukrainian Chef and friend Olia Hercules who has published two remarkable recipe and travelogue books "Mamuska" and "Kaukasis" which have shone new light on the incredible span and creativity of this fascinating region and its food.
