Château de Bergun has belonged to the Planiol family since the early 1900s. Located in the commune of Ruch, Entre-Deux-Mers. The family has run their estate and winery as a cooperative since its inception. This has allowed them to pool resources and focus on the core of their business.

The Advance Release wines offer a portal into the future of Thistledown. Though our focus is very much on Grenache, Shiraz and Chardonnay, it is not an unnatural progression to dabble in some Rhône influenced whites. Relatively rare in South Australia, this example from the southerly reaches of the region benefits from being grown on kurrajong formation soils, famed for the quality of the fruit they provide. Aromatic honeysuckle and toasted almond lead through to a beautifully waxy, lemon laden palate with hints of ripe pear, honey and ginger.

Lapostolle Casa Semillon is a light delicate yellow with lime hints in colour. It has a subtle nose with ripe fruit such as pears and waxy apple aromas along with some herbaceous hints. in the mouth it has a very bright and clean texture and rich volume, pleasant acidity and a long finish.

Straw golden with a gentle green hue to it, the wine appears fresh and alive. Aromas of fragrant lime leaves intermingle with ripe quince and a bracing mineral note. Domaine L'Ancienne Cure Jour de Fruit Monbazillac is a wonderfully rich sweet wine made from low yields of late-harvested, botrytised, Semillon (90%) and Muscadelle (10%). It has flavours of marzipan, orange peel and spices. Christian Roche has emerged in the last five years as one of the best growers in this appellation. 37.5cl bottle. It is best drunk as an apéritif (with Roquefort), with foie-gras, melon or dessert.

An attractive pale yellow with green tints, has the aroma of citrus and hints of peach, floral notes and an aromatic lifted spiciness. It has excellent structure, with a lemon tinged backbone provided by the Semillon and a soft zesty mouthfeel. Finished wonderfully with a mouthful of crunchy fruit.

While bottle ageing in the Tanunda cellars, the wine has developed an attractive vibrant green/gold colour. The bouquet shows hints of lemon flower together with some waxy, honeyed development so typical of great, aged Semillon. The grapes were picked early in the season to retain more natural acidity and the palate is dry with a zesty finish.
