A Mano Primitivo di Puglia is deeply coloured and exuberant on the nose, with perfumes of ripe, red fruit, especially raspberries and a spicy, smoky edge from the oak ageing.
On the palate A Mano Primitivo di Puglia is youthful and full-bodied, with great balance between ripe, rounded fruit characters including blackberry and blueberry, sweet, toasty oak and ripe, full tannins.
Mark Shannon and Elvezia Sbalchiero, the duo behind A Mano, have worked in the wine business for most of their lives.
Elvezia is a northern Italian wine marketing expert and Mark is a Californian winemaker. They fell in love with Puglia and, when they decided to start their own label, made it their home.
By producing wines of quality, Mark and Elvezia have succeeded in making Primitivo one of Italy’s most talked about grape varieties.
They pay high prices for the best grapes from 70-100 year old vines and focus solely on quality and a modern style.

A Mano Negroamaro is unlike any other that you will ever try. It is sleek, elegant, filled with finesse and the ability to please your palate with every sip.
The first note is crushed berries –juicy and sweet, then black cherries and spices. Look again and you find a floral note, like the heart of an apricot colored rose.

This wine comes from a single vineyard in the Salento peninsula.
It’s an old vineyard, dry-farmed and trained on a trellis. Negroamaro needs some shade to protect the beautiful and unusual flavors and the simple trellis system provides the perfect sun screen for these sensitive grapes.
We ferment cold, with frequent pumpovers to extract color, but keep the tannins in balance and preserve the fruit flavors.
A Mano Negroamaro is delightful in its youth with all the exuberant fruit flavors.
It will also age for a very long time, up to 15 years, and develop the complexities of mature Burgundy.
