Baron de Sigognac 10YO Armagnac

Baron de Sigognac 10YO has a fine nose, marked by notes of vanilla, cinnamon and candied orange - round in the mouth with floral, woody and spicy notes leading to a long and pleasing finish of grilled almonds and vanilla.

Baron de Sigognac 10YO is mild yet fiery at the same time like a gently toasted Arabica coffee

Beautifully crafted Bas-Armagnac from Baron de Sigognac 10 YO. The company owns one short column still which is almost a century old, and it produces around 50-60 casks a year.

In Armagnac, legend has it that, one day long ago, Baron de Sigognac took all the traditional clocks out of his cellars.

Fascinated by the mystery surrounding the way Armagnac ages so well, he had some very strange timepieces made.
On these clocks, the face had ten divisions instead of twelve.

The seconds had become years, the big hand moved only once a decade and the hour hand marked the centuries.

Baron de Sigognac had found the core of the mystery of Armagnac ageing : time and patience… The legend adds that, with time, Baron de Sigognac who had thoroughly separated each harvest in different casks took first the idea of selling his brandies as genuine vintaged Armagnacs.

Driven by the love of a work well done, Armagnac Baron de Sigognac has always had a production philosophy at the heart of its work. http://armagnac-sigognac.com/philo-armagnac-en.aspx

This philosophy which is unique in the profession works on two fundamental principles:
1- the exclusive use of production methods that are reliable, traditional, proven over time, with wisdom and the age-old experience of the house.
2- the deliberate choice of quality during every step of the production : sustainable culture of the vineyards, respect for the soils and nature, natural fermentation on fine lees, slow distillation in carefully selected alambics, ageing in barrels where the toasting is controlled to the nearest second:

As W.Forster said so well: ‘Quality is never an accident. It is the result of the best intentions, sincere efforts, intelligent decisions as well as their skilful realisation …’
