Description

Pale straw yellow in colour with an fine and persistent perlage. The aromas are deep and delicate with flower notes like the rose, the field’s violet and fruity scents of apple and September peach. On the palate it is mellow, appealing and velvety, lightly aromatic. The important residual sugars in the wine (25 g/l) are perfectly balanced with the huge minerality that comes from the hill of Cartizze and its soil. This all gives the impression of a drier wine, but which very smooth and balanced on the palate. Cartizze is widely considered to be the “Grand Cru” of Prosecco.

The Producer

You can find Bastia winery in Saccol, heart of Valdobbiadene DOCG, at the feet of the Bastìa hill. This is the beginning of a narrow but famous zone: Cartizze.

Of small dimensions but of great prestige, the company Azienda Agricola Rebuli Michele is the fruit of 5 generations.

The producer has few hectares of vineyards of its property, and all of them in the top-quality Valdobbiadene DOCG district.

Cartizze Prosecco: the most expensive Prosecco Grand Cru

Moreover, Bastia owns a hillside vineyard in the Cartizze, an area with optimal exposure at the sun, steady ventilation and sandy soil.

All these elements combined together give the very best expression of the variety Glera (originally Prosecco).

The hill of Cartizze is a 1,000-foot-high vineyard of 107 hectares (260 acres) of vines and it is owned only by 140 growers.

The Prosecco from its grapes is of the highest quality, and the real "Grand Cru" of Prosecco.

According to a local legend, Cartizze winegrowers traditionally harvested this hill as the very last one. Indeed, the vines were on steep slopes and hard to reach. This fact helped vintners discover that the extended ripening period improved the flavour.
Bastia takes directly care of the entire production process, from the vineyard to the cellar.
