Benriach 10 Year Old

Benriach 10 Year Old is on the nose a fresh and lively combination of crisp, green orchard fruits, stem ginger and hints of tangerine mellows to creamy vanilla with a delicate note of mint and a gentle twist of citrus, all held together with a sweet barley back note.

Warm toasted oak spices flood through green apple skins and dried apricots in the mouth, ripening to hints of peach and soft banana. Subtle touches of aniseed and lemon zest create a contrasting edge to the fruit and add an intriguing character to the long, crisp barley finish.

Established in 1898 by the Grant family on the same site as Longmorn Distillery, Benriach Distillery was mothballed after just two years of production following the ‘Pattison Crash’. In 1965 the distillery was re-opened by Glenlivet Distillers after a period that saw most of the distillery re-built. In 1978 Benriach was purchased by Canadian whisky firm, Seagrams and as a result of the need to step up production, Benriach was extended from two stills to four.

In 2004 the distillery was acquired by an independant consortium and has become possibly the most exciting and innovative distillery in Scotland.

Benriach Curiositas 10 Year Old 40%

Unusually for a speyside this is quite heavily peated in a style more common over 100 years ago. An explosion of aromatic peat reek, with fragrant hints of honey, fruit and mellow oak. On the palate an avalanche of peat, followed by an extravagant and complex mix of fruit, heather, nuts, oak wood and spices.

An incredible dram from Glenfarclas, we can't say enough about it. It's a juicy, Christmas cake of a whisky, absolutely huge! A lot of the whisky in this is clearly much older than 15 years, this is a really sherried dram and we love it.
