Broken Heart Gin
Broken Heart Gin has a nose that is piney as a result of the juniper. The added angelica gives this gin body and an earthy quality, which is complemented by pimento pepper. The gin strikes a fine balance, with the more delicate botanicals, such as lavender and lemon peel, ensuring smoothness. The finish is citrussy, clean and extremely well balanced.
The story of Broken Heart gin is about remembering a friend. Two German friends, Joerg and Bernd, were living in Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand. Both of them were philosophers and Master Distillers, and set out to make a superb gin together. Sadly, Bernd unexpectedly fell ill and tragically passed away. To commemorate his friend and to mark a new beginning, Joerg released Broken Heart gin. The aim was to make a perfumed and crisp gin to drink at dusk, cherishing those ‘moments in between’. We liked this gin upon first sniff for its aromatic complexity, intensity and clean finish.
Broken Heart is a London Dry gin distilled in a small pot still from a wheat and molasses base spirit. Eleven botanicals are added including juniper, coriander seed, lemon peel, lavender, cardamom, cassia, cinnamon and angelica. The New Zealand alpine water gives this gin a captivating purity, and it is well balanced at 40% ABV. The suggested serving is with Fever-Tree tonic and a twist of orange over ice.

All goods should be examined upon receipt, and any claim for loss or breakage notified by email or telephone to Hay Wines immediately. In the case of goods delivered by couriers, unless any claim is made within 24 hours, no compensation, refund or other credit will be available. In the case of damaged goods, Hay Wines reserves the right to collect these.
