William Chase was a local farmer who grew potatoes when a supermarket rejected a batch he sold them to Kettle Chips who told him they were the best they had ever used so he decided to make his own crisps and Tyrells was born.
He then discovered potatoes could also make amazing vodka and apples the base for great gin. He also now also owns an estate in Provence making great biodynamic wines.
We slowly cook Herefordshire Rhubarb and then marinade it with our award-winning, three times distilled Chase Original Vodka in our beautiful copper pot still.
The resultant spirit is then further distilled a fourth time to infuse the flavours before adding macerated fresh rhubarb and filtering to leave a delicate pink colour.
Chase Rhubarb Vodka captures the true flavour of carefully pressed rhubarb, achieving a natural scent of rhubarb and custard with the subtle sweetness of rhubarb on the palate, without using any artificial ingredients or heat methods
We recommend enjoying in a Champagne cocktail served with a vanilla pod-it tastes just like rhubarb crumble.

We distilled an apple vodka from cider and redistilled that into gin, giving a deliciously natural, fruity taste from the apple tannins in the skin.
To take our spirits to market was not easy. Usually the spirits industry relies on big companies buying their brands into the market, or small craft distilleries buying in cheap spirit to boil in botanicals, so that our biggest handy cap was the laborious process.
Soon I learnt why nobody wants to make gin or vodka from potatoes or cider! We learnt that some of the best sales people were quality wine merchants as they totally understood about terroir and our processes.

All goods should be examined upon receipt, and any claim for loss or breakage notified by email or telephone to Hay Wines immediately. In the case of goods delivered by couriers, unless any claim is made within 24 hours, no compensation, refund or other credit will be available. In the case of damaged goods, Hay Wines reserves the right to collect these.

If you wish to return your order due to an error on our behalf, we are happy to collect or get our courier to collect from the delivery address stated on the invoice, providing the parcel is securely packed in the same way as it was sent out. If you wish to return the parcel yourself please feel free to do so. Once the parcel has returned to us we will refund you the full amount.
