Description

Deep purple in colour with violet tints, this wine has intense aromas of blueberries, damsons and cherries. The palate is intense and flavourful, supported by tannins that are firm but go almost unnoticed given their ripeness and integration. The powerful fruit character reverberates on the finish.

Cien y Pico Doble Pasta Tintorera

The name Cien y Pico means "Hundred and something" and refers to the age of the ancient vines from which these wines are made. This wine is rich, with smooth tannins, good natural acidity and a long, perfumed finish.

The project is the result of many years of experience in the region and the personal quest of four winemakers (Australian Zar Brooks, his Bulgarian wife Elena Golakova Brooks, Spaniard Luis Juminez García and Italian Nicola Tucci) to preserve the 19th century vineyards. http://www.vegatolosa.com/index.php?idioma=en

The vineyard is the main linchpin of Vega Tolosa consist of 200 hectares of own vineyards grown by means of certified organic farming.

Our vineyards are also located on a 750 m. above sea level plateau between the valleys of two rivers; Júcar and Cabriel. This is a privileged place within La Manchuela.

This location enjoys Continental climate and since the Mediterranean Sea is only 120km from here, wet and cold winds coming from the sea allow summer nights temperatures drop.

This causes the grapes to ripen slowly due to the significant changes in temperature between day and night.

The soil beneath our plantations consist of two layers; the first is a clay surface with gravel and sand and the second layer is made of a calcareous component which is the basis of the quality of our wines.

Bobal vineyards planted over 80 years ago along with the old Maccabees, have witnessed how newvarieties were joined into the cultivation: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and small grain Muscatelas white wine varietiesand Tempranillo , Syrah , Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot and GarnachaTintorera as red wine varieties.
