Cotswold Dry Gin

Tasting notes:- Cotswold Dry Gin has fresh notes of grapefruit with earthy coriander backed-up by sweet juniper.

Soft notes of black pepper with a hint of perfumed Cotswolds lavender.

Cotswold Dry Gin – clean, pine juniper spice with fresh grapefruit and coriander seed.

A touch of dryness from the angelica root with eucalyptus notes from bay leaf. Subtle lime and lavender.

The traditional London dry style comes from the maceration into our pure wheat spirit of juniper, coriander and angelica root, which have been left for 12 hours to allow their flavour characteristics to fully infuse.

They then add their unique botanical mix of Cotswolds lavender and bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper and cardamom seed into their carter head still for distillation before finishing with naturally refined Cotswolds water.

The result is Cotswold Dry Gin, a classic well-balanced juniper-led gin with crisp citrus and spice.

The  Cotswold Dry Gin is delicious on its own and over ice.

It’s robust enough to stand up to tonic and smooth enough to craft the ultimate gin martini.

Background:-

The Cotswolds Distillery is the brainchild of Daniel Szor.

Dan came to the Cotswolds several years ago from London with his wife Katia and daughter Emily to spend family time at the weekends in an old barn, just down the road from where the distillery now sits.

What started as a weekend love affair with this beautiful region soon turned into a passion, so much so that Dan and his family decided to leave London and live full-time in the Cotswolds.

Dan was looking for a way out of his 30-year career in finance, wanting to create something with his own hands and make a difference in the community.

He’d been a whisky-lover for over 20 years, and looking out of his window one day he saw a field of golden barley waving in the breeze – and that was how the idea of the Cotswolds Distillery was born.

The Cotswolds is full of rich history, stunning scenery, charming old towns and great hotels and dining.

Everything but a working distillery… Until now.

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its horticultural heritage and set in five acres of beautiful Cotswolds countryside.

Their state-of-the-art distillation equipment is perfectly poised for the creation of their fine spirits.

Their Forsyths whisky stills have been custom made to our exacting standards, with the 500kg mash tun, 2,400l wash still, 1,600l spirit still and four 2,500l fermenters – able to produce over 100,000 bottles of their Cotswold Single Malt Whisky annually.

Cotswolds Dry Gin is crafted using a tailor-made hybrid Holstein still.

With a capacity of 500l, the possibilities are endless when it comes to acheiving superior quality and toying with new recipe development.

Moniack Mead

Rating:
Moniack Mead is a traditional honey mead which is produced at Moniack Castle by Highland Wineries, and is said to be one of the best meads being made in modern times. Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks known in history and, like all meads, Moniack Mead is produced through the process of fermenting honey. An interesting fact about mead is that it is traditionally drunk for the month after a wedding which is where the word “honeymoon” came from. Moniack Mead has a lovely, lingering and smooth flavour with elements of caramel and fermented honey. Our recommendation is that this mead is best served either chilled or if you prefer as a aperitif. 75cl bottle
