Crossbarn Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon

Crossbarn Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in colour, with enticing aromas of dark cherries, ripe blueberries, anise and fresh lavender. A tantalising palate offers a medley of boysenberry, currants, violets, clove and cocoa. Tannins are sweet and smooth; balanced acidity brightens a lengthy finish.

Named most influential winemaker in California and receiving the magical 100 point score from Robert Parker more than once, Paul Hobbs has shot to fame for crafting wines that are truly remarkable for their balance, intensity and sense of place.

Terroir-driven Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon are the focus at Paul Hobbs Winery, and the wines on offer this year deliver the exceptional levels of finesse and personality we have come to expect from the ‘truffle hunting dog.

The epitome of style, Paul Hobbs wines embrace the ripe, forward expression to which the landscape and culture of California naturally lends itself. The temperate, sun-drenched valleys, rolling hills and coastal slopes offer seemingly endless winegrowing potential.

Not everyone starts their wine drinking career with a taste of 1962 Chateau D'Yquem but, as a youngster, Paul Hobbs’ passion for wine was ignited when his father brought home a bottle of this very wine and poured it into paper cups for all the family to taste.

After heading up the team at Opus One, and establishing the Chardonnay programme at Catena, Paul founded his own winery in 1991.
