Delaire Graff Botmaskop

Delaire Graff Botmaskop is powerful, yet elegant and polished. A red blend with classic aromas of dark berry fruit, spice and cassis. The softness of tannins and balance in structure complete this wine on the palate. Optimal ageing potential of 5 – 8 years.

Delaire Graff Estate sits on the slopes of the Botmaskop Mountain peak. Around 20 hectares of vineyards are planted with Bordeaux reds and Chardonnay pesticide-free grapes expertly tended by hand, which thrive in their special climate.

The combination of Maritime and mountain is a very unique terroir, and  in Stellenbosch it creates their award-winning Delaire Graff wines. A cooling Atlantic sea breeze washes over their steeply sloping vineyards giving them a rich intensity of fruit.

Delaire Graff wines rank among the most prestigious in the Southern Hemisphere. Their unique terroir, on the crest of the panoramic Helshoogte Mountain Pass, is something their ambitious winemaker explores harvest after harvest.

A long, slow ripening season ensures world-class clarets and red wines big in structure with soft tannins and elegance. They are proud to have achieved First Growth status in South Africa – reward for creating their country’s most desirable wines on first pressing.

As a respected and accomplished South African winemaker, Morné Vrey is relentless in his pursuit of quality. His expert hand and knowledge of viniculture is responsible for the creation of their finest appellations.

Morné has a bold, but honest winemaking vision: to keep the integrity of the superlative grapes without over manipulation. They come bursting with a flavour so pure that they only use authentic winemaking methods – and that means capturing the essence of the earth and their South African summers in every grape, bottle, and glass.

Morné Vrey began his career as assistant winemaker in Stellenbosch before joining harvests in France and Germany. He then widened his experience into new world wine styles in New Zealand, and today he continues to harness this to create elegant South African wines from the unique Delaire terroir and from fruit meticulously sourced from selected vineyards.
