Domaine Chardigny Saint-Amour A la Folie

Domaine Chardigny Saint-Amour A la Folie  – notes of fresh strawberries, raspberries and cherries dominate the palate of this elegant Beaujolais. The finesse, silky tannins and its important guarding potential make it an elegant cuvée.

“Here the very stony ground is slightly more silty than its neighbour the Clos du Chapter. The large area of this vintage (4.5 hectares) allows us to try several types of macerations. The ageing of this wine lasts 12 months in barrels, half-muids and stainless steel vats. The finesse, silky tannins and its important guarding potential make it an elegant cuvée. ” – Domaine Chardigny

These young brothers, Pierre-Maxime, Jean-Baptiste and Jean-Michel, run this family domaine which they are in the process of transforming. Jean-Baptiste is also vineyard manager for the Joseph Leflaive estate in the maconnais. They also sell grapes to Jean-Louis Dutraive and Jean-François Ganevat in the Jura. Minimum use of sulphur, organic grapes and the result is a rich, fruit-driven, delicious Saint Amour.

The CHARDIGNY estate is located on the commune of Leynes at the crossroads of Mâconnais and Beaujolais. The vineyards are operated by the three Brothers Chardigny Pierre-Maxime, Jean-Baptiste and Victor-Emmanuel. It is therefore a family estate comprising vines that were passed on to them by their parents Catherine and Jean-Michel.

Catherine and Jean-Michel have long managed the sharecropping operation. At the same time, Jean-Michel, who trained in wine, worked for 37 years at SOBEMAB, a bottling company. These responsibilities in bottling the property are taken in many vineyards from Chablis to Narbonne through the emblematic estates of Burgundy, Jura, Beaujolais, Savoy and the Rhone Valley.
During all these years, Catherine and Jean-Michel have acquired the foundations of the management of an estate, winemaking and wine packaging.
