Domaine Gayda Flying Solo Grenache Blanc Viognier IGP Pays D’Oc

Domaine Gayda Flying Solo Grenache Blanc Viognier IGP Pays D’Oc is fresh, intensely floral, yet very fruity – apple blossom and lemon aromas give way to peach, orange and all manner of tropical fruit nuances, leading to an intense grapiness on the palate.

This really is packed with flavour, combining a touch of richness with gorgeous acidity and a subtle herbiness. A beautifully made wine of real elegance – and brilliant value for money.

Situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, surrounded by its vineyards, Domaine Gayda is an exceptional destination in the Languedoc, 25km south west of Carcassonne, in the village of Brugairolles.

Owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record have joined forces with winemaker Vincent Chansault and chef Jean-Christophe Gille to create outstanding wine and cuisine for the region.

The new winery was built in 2004 and the restaurant on its upper floor in 2006, providing fine dining with spectacular, uninterrupted views of the Pyrenees Mountains.

Domaine Gayda has a passion for the traditional ‘cépages’ grown across the many diverse soils and climates of our vineyards situated throughout the Languedoc, giving “Provenance” to all our wines.

While the grapes are rooted in tradition, the winery itself is all about the new, with investments in all the latest equipment and technology.

In the largest wine region of the world, Domaine Gayda strives to create wine with provenance and a sense of “being” that is a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the Languedoc Roussillon.

The yields are naturally low due to the age of the vines and to the nature of the “terroir” providing great balance in the grapes.

With respect to the vines only natural products are used during the growing period seeking a natural balance and increased biodiversity.

All the grapes are handpicked in small 20kg crates and taken to the cellar in refrigerated containers providing maximum protection to ensure perfect condition on arrival.

This is really classy in 2010, the first year with the name of the lieu-dit on the label. A beautiful floral nose, dancing fruit, charming and balanced, it possesses an excellent racy acidity and is altogether a great success. From 50-year-old vines in Les Aubues, an enclave within better known Enceigneres, this is very attractive with quite a full nose and an excellent finish.

Domaine des Brosses Sancerre Quick View

Domaine des Brosses Sancerre 2018

The Girard family have 6 different parcels of Sancerre vineyards. Their hillside vineyards are located on classic clay and chalk soils, giving the grippy, mineral style expected of true Sancerre. Domaine des Brosses has used a machine harvester to collect the grapes since 1989. This is so that the Sauvignon Blanc is brought to the winery in the coolness of night-time, thus retaining the classic citrus and gooseberry aromas and flavours of Sancerre. Pale yellow in colour. The nose is fresh and full of hay, citrus and mineral notes. The palate is medium in body with crisp lemon acidity and an appealing creamy complexity alongside the ripe peach, elderflower and mineral flavours which last well on the long finish.
