Domaine Sautereau Sancerre Rose

Domaine Sautereau Sancerre Rose is pale pink in colour, fine raspberry fruit defines the nose, and carries through onto the fresh, mid-weight palate.

The creamy complexity of Domaine Sautereau Sancerre Rose is well-balanced by crisp acidity and there is a long finish of summer fruits and delicate citrus too.

The family-run Domaine Sautereau produces modern, attractive wines that offer excellent value for money.

The Sautereau family has been producing wine for nine generations in the village of Crezancy, seven kilometres from the town of Sancerre. http://www.sancerre-sautereau.com/

The winery is now being run by David Sautereau, whose careful and orderly approach in his small, immaculate cellar is reflected in the absolute purity of his wines.

Vineyards

The Domaine's 15 hectares of vineyard are situated mainly in Crézancy, with a tiny proportion located in Bue and the village of Sancerre itself. The range of soils in this area, many of which are predominantly calcareous, allows David a good spread of different blending components for the wine, giving more complex and varied flavours.

Vintage information

Growers had to contend with a complex array of weather patterns throughout the spring, but warm weather over summer and good conditions towards the end of the ripening season provided a positive end to a difficult vintage. The resulting wines are flavoursome and fruit-driven, with excellent balance.

Vinification

A light pressing and cool fermentation of the delicate Pinot Noir fruit ensured retention of the pure, red fruit character while three months on the lees provided extra complexity and richness.

Like David Sautereau's Sancerre Blanc, the wine was stored in stainless steel vats and bottled six months after the harvest for extra freshness.

Tasting Notes

Bright, pale pink in colour, with lively notes of strawberries and raspberries on the nose. Full-bodied in the mouth, this wine offers delicate flavours of fruits of the forest and a long, elegant finish with refreshing acidity.
