William and John Mathesen built the ‘Morangie’ farm distillery in 1843. The Mathesen brothers selected a site with a long history of illicit distillation; there are claims about whisky distillation in the area as far back as 1738 and even 1703. However, actual production of malt whisky at Glenmorangie didn’t start until November 1849.

Nikka From The Barrel is full-bodied and punchy, plenty of winter spice and toffee, a little caramel and vanilla and a good mouthful of fruit - long, warming and fruity with a little oaken spice.Nikka from the Barrel is big-boned and bursting with character - not averse to a drop of water, either. Incredibly clean with a nice gentle burn.
