Description
Josef Chromy Chardonnay
Pale green straw. Complex, citrus and white peach with light cinnamon and toast characters from regular barrel stirring. A rich texture wine showing citrus, and nectarine flavours with integrated French oak. The palate is rich and full from barrel fermentation but balanced with natural acidity which gives structure and length.
Josef Chromy is a true success story based on hard work, experience and commitment to creating quality wine. Since arriving as a refugee from Nazi-occupied Czechslovakia, he has been a major proponent in the Tasmanian wine scene. He invested in the state’s fledgling wine industry and has owned and developed some of Tasmania’s leading wineries including Jansz, Heemskerk, Tamar Ridge Wines and what is now known as Bay of Fires.
At 76, when most people would be thinking about easing up, Joe launched Josef Chromy Wines in December 2007. In just over 4 short years, Josef Chromy Wines has made an impressive impact on the Australian Wine industry. In a very short period Josef Chromy Wines has amassed over 14 trophies and 170 medals which makes it one of the most successful launches in the history of the Tasmanian Wine Industry.
The use of state-of-the-art technology for traditional winemaking techniques enables a gentle, minimal intervention approach which allows the subtle and delicate flavours of our cool climate vineyard to be expressed to their full potential. A high tech German press enables juice extraction at low pressures, giving more delicate aromatic juices.
