Kaiken Terroir Series Malbec Blend
Intense red color with violet hues. Ripe black fruit in the nose, such as blueberries and blackberries, hand in hand with Malbec´s floral aromas. On the mouth it brings out all the silkiness of the Malbec backed by the structure and freshness of Petit Verdot, ending with a mineral finish provided by the Bonarda. A long and lingering finish. A unique combination is achieved, where Bonarda and Petit Verdot contribute freshness and structure to the basic characteristics of our renowned Malbecs from the Uco Valley.

The red wines in this range are complemented by an attractive white Torrontés from Cafayate in Salta.
It was Aurelio Montes‘ spirit of adventure and curiosity that led him to Argentina. He was seduced by the people and culture, as well as Argentinean viticulture and winemaking, which he felt was open to new ideas.
The Kaiken vineyards are situated in the heart of Mendoza as well as further south in the Valle de Uco, where many premium producers are now sourcing their fruit.
The focus is primarily on Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, a variety that has been somewhat forgotten as Malbec has surfed one wave of success after another in the past decade.
As a result, there are many old vineyards in Mendoza that produce excellent fruit.
Kaiken‘s own vineyards supply 70% of their production requirements and 30% is from vineyards that they control.
Today, winemaking is in the very capable hands of Aurelio Montes Baseden, or Aurelio Junior.
The grapes for Kaiken Reserve Malbec are sourced from Kaiken‘s Agrelo vineyard, most of the vines were planted before 1970.
Agrelo is at an altitude of 950m and has alluvial soil thanks to the erosion of the Andes, producing ripe, good bodied reds.
The Malbec Reserve has an intense ruby red colour with fruity aromas that intermingle wildflowers and blackberries, accompanied by notes of coffee and chocolate from the oak ageing.
The palate is smooth, with well-balanced acidity, round and elegant tannins and a medium-long finish.
