Authentique Brut Champagne NV

Following the Champagne tradition of the past centuries, the Le Brun de Neuville Authentique cuvees have been grown and been raised under cork for many years.

This particular breeding favours the micro-oxygenation of the wine and develops the power and finesse of its aromas.

This “cork staple” sealing technique requires manual work; especially during disgorgement.

The Le Brun Neuville Authentique Champagne NV is presented in a square ring bottle, the sign of the ageing process with the cork. It shows a tinted gold yellow light green dress with strong lemon yellow tones.

The nose is floral with honeysuckle, white rose, wallflowers, together with hints of candied lemon, bergamot and toasted bread. When aerated, it turns towards notes of blackcurrant , biscuit, wet chalk, raspberry and peach.

The approach on the palate is soft and fresh with a creamy mousse. The wine is elegant with refreshing chalky minerality. The finish of the Le Brun Neuville Authentique is long and rich, with fresh fruit, floral and pastry notes.

Food pairings: Parmesan cheese wrapped in pastry, guinea fowl or halibut in a creamy coconut sauce.

Vinification: Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation incomplete. Bottled in July 2015.

Le Brun Neuville Authentique Brut Champagne: the producer

Since it’s foundation, Le Brun de Neuville has built itself around a history of men and women, the families of winegrowers with a common desire to equip themselves with effective tools, so that their knowledge combined with the rich product of their terroir enables them to produce Champagnes of the highest quality.

For over a 150 years, the Le Brun family resides by the village of Bethon, close to the town of Sézanne in the Marne. The memory of Madame Le Brun who owned the castle in 1845 is still alive today. The house Le Brun de Neuville inherits its name thanks to the action of the noble heiress of the Château de Bethon, Madame de Reviers, one of the founders of the House.

The vineyard of Le Brun Neuville Authentique is spread over 150 hectares, of which the essential has been planted for more 30 years and more on the undulating slopes of the Sézannais. Its vineyard is planted predominantly in Chardonnay, which represents 88% of the total. The Pinot Noir accounts for 11% and the Meunier just 1% of the vines. The supplies of Champagne Brun de Neuville come exclusively from the vines of its members.

Le Brun Neuville Authentique Brut Champagne: the history

A small and very well-run co-operative in Champagne, in the Sézanne area of the Marne. Founded in 1963 by 20 producers it now has 150 members. The name derives from the Le Brun de Neuville family who had a long history of winemaking in the region and who, in the 19th century, established the house that has become the cooperative.

The 150 members farm 150 hectares between them, almost 90% of which is chardonnay, and the co-operative urges all of them to farm sustainably. The vineyards themselves include crus at Villenauxe-la Grande, Fontaine-Denis, Barbonne-Fayel, Chantemerl and La-Celle-sous-Chantemerle.

Pol Roger Brut

Pol Roger Brut Reserve is synonymous with classic, brilliant Champagne. The Champagne has its devout disciples within the trade - almost a trade secret! When you get to taste it you will understand why the trade want to keep it for themselves. The small, classic bubbles, perfumed spice, vanilla and coffee leading to a fruit filled bundle of vibrant tastes finishing with elegant spices and a hint of butter. On the nose, white flowers, green apple, brioche and a trace of minerality dominate the champagne. On the palate there are notes of stone fruits, certain nuttiness and a hint of honey supporting the freshness of the acidity. UK stock receives an additional 6 months post-disgorgement ageing so it is ready to drink upon release but cellaring for a few years will reveal greater depths. The aperitif champagne par excellence but one, which has sufficient backbone to be drunk with a variety of foods.

Bollinger Special Reserve

Special Cuvee is made from a majority of reserve wines fermented either in mature oak casks or small stainless steel tanks depending on the characteristics and fundamental potential of the base wines. A significant part of the reserve wines have been fermented in mature oak barrels before being transferred into magnums, which are then stored under cork in Bollinger’s cellars for as long as 12 to 15 years, with a minimum of 5. Blended some years later with the other base wines, coming from the two latest harvests in proportions which can change from one year to another, they impart the final blend with an inimitable and unrivalled consistency and majesty.

Spagnol Prosecco DOCG Frizzante Lo Spago 2020

The colour is bright straw yellow and it has the light and soft perlage typical of Frizzante wines. The nose senses a bouquet of apple and floral notes of acacia and wisteria. The taste is fresh and very typical, with good acidity balanced by tatantalizing sapidity or an almost salty minerality. This wine is closely linked to the traditions of this territory and characterised by the typical “twine knot”. The cork is fixed to the bottle neck with twine, a procedure which is still done today by hand, just as it has been done for generations by the farming families of this area.
