Lo Fi Chardonnay 2018
Lo Fi Chardonnay has been hand harvested and sustainably grown, with the whole cluster pressed to tank. Settled 48 hours prior to racking to barrel. Fermented on the native yeasts, followed by partial malolactic by naturally occurring bacteria. No sulfur used at pressing. Upon completion of primary fermentation the wine was racked to amphora for aging and 25 ppm so2 added. Balance left in barrel. The wine was racked once prior to hand bottling. Total of 61 ppm so2 added without filtration in keeping with our minimalist (lo-fi) philosophy.
Typical Santa Barbara season outside of an early bloom and fruit set. The lingering drought has affected “normal” years in that regard. September typically being their warmest month, the grapes were not effected by late season heat due to the crop load and early harvest date. Total degree days just over 2000 and annual rainfall of 7.72”(48% of historical average).
Lo-Fi is a partnership between two lifelong friends who believe in hand crafted honest wines that are made for every day drinking. Wines to be enjoyed not to be collected. Easy drinking lower alcohol wines made to pair well with all types of foods, from pizza to paté.
They believe in neutral barrels, native yeasts, little to no sulfur additions, and no adjustment of pH. They love whole cluster fermentation. They adore carbonic maceration . They embrace a nothing added, nothing taken away philosophy that gives birth to wines that are young, vibrant and alive.

Returns and Exchanges
All goods should be examined upon receipt, and any claim for loss or breakage notified by email or telephone to Hay Wines immediately. In the case of goods delivered by couriers, unless any claim is made within 24 hours, no compensation, refund or other credit will be available. In the case of damaged goods, Hay Wines reserves the right to collect these.

If you wish to return your order due to an error on our behalf, we are happy to collect or get our courier to collect from the delivery address stated on the invoice, providing the parcel is securely packed in the same way as it was sent out. If you wish to return the parcel yourself please feel free to do so. Once the parcel has returned to us we will refund you the full amount. Please note that refunds may take up to 7 working days to appear in your account.
