Macallan Fine Oak 15YO Single Malt

The Macallan Fine Oak 15YO Single Malt forms part of the Fine Oak range and is matured for a minimum of fifteen years in three exceptional oak cask types. This complex combination of casks delivers a rich flavour profile with notes of chocolate, dried fruits and cinnamon.

Reborn as The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 15 Years Old from April 2018, The Macallan Fine Oak 15 Years Old is embodied in a new look range; offering the same extraordinarily smooth, delicate yet complex character with a new name, new bottle and bold new packaging.

Reflecting the quality of our whiskies and unveiling the skills and craft of the Macallan Masters, this new identity for our core range will roll out from the end of April across the world.

There has probably been whisky made on the Macallan site, a small hill overlooking the Spey near Craigellachie, since the late 1700’s. http://www.themacallan.com/the-story/

The first licensed distillation at Macallan is said to have taken place in the earliest days of legalised production, in 1824.

The distillery changed hands several times throughout the 19th century and in 1894 was bought by Elgin merchant, Roderick Kemp (who also owned Talisker on Skye).

Due to demand for Macallan the distillery has been modernised and extended over the years. In the 1950’s the output was trebled and further increased in the 1960’s.

Easter Elchies House, built in 1700, lies at the heart of The Macallan estate

Built in 1700 Easter Elchies House is a fine example of a Highland manor house.

The Macallan estate lies in an area of great natural beauty; its scale and diversity is unique among distilleries and is managed in harmony with the beautiful landscape.

The estate covers 390 acres (158 hectares), of which some 90 acres are sown in the spring with our own exclusive Minstrel barley variety to make The Macallan.

Sheep and highland cattle are at home here and woodland, beetle banks and areas of unharvested crop and unmown grassland attract biodiversity.

The river Spey, one of Scotland’s most famous salmon rivers, borders the estate to the south and south-east.
