Description
Maison Les Alexandrins Viognier
Maison Les Alexandrins Viognier, has a lovely pale golden ‘robe‘ with bright undertones.
Maison Les Alexandrins Viognier is very aromatic on the nose, it offers wonderful notes of citrus fruit and white flowers. On the palate, Maison Les Alexandrins Viognier is quite ‘lean‘, ‘tense‘ and mineral as opposed to a more buttery and full bodied style of Viognier. The finish is long and mouthwatering with fabulous flavours of apple and almond.
Maison Les Alexandrins brings together the scions of two of the great families of the Rhone, Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the eponymous winery in Tain, and the Perrin family of Ch. de Beaucastel. This joint venture micro-negociant was created in 2009 with the sole aim of producing top quality Northern Rhone wines. Nicolas is able to source the best fruit and wines from growers and producers that he has formed a long standing relationship with, while the Perrin family bring expertise in winemaking and blending, as well as the use of their cellars. The partnership stems from a long standing friendship, a shared love of gastronomy and a philosophy to create wines that represent the best of their appellation.
In 2014, the desire of Alexandre and Guillaume to promote the Domaine Les Alexandrins wines and Nicolas’ ambition to anchor Maison Nicolas Perrin in the heart of the Northern Rhone Valley led the three men to strengthen their cooperation. From 2015, Maison Nicolas Perrin took a majority share in Domaine Les Alexandrins, reflected in the change of name to “Domaine et Maison Les Alexandrins”.
We were impressed by the precision of the wines which, allied with their modern style and the emphasis on fruit, makes these stunning examples of the vineyards in which they are grown. An entry level white wine. We chose the Viognier variety because it is aromatic and brings great minerality. This wine offers immediate pleasure and will be perfect with aperitifs to accompany your seafood amuse-bouche.
Maison Les Alexandrins Viognier: Terroir
The wine is produced from vines planted at altitude, mainly on the Coteaux d’Ardèche. The idea is to preserve the typical freshness and aromatics of the wine.
