Mamont Siberian Vodka

Mamont Siberian Vodka is outstandingly smooth, delicate and rich toned, its secret lies in uniquely Siberian ingredients and craftsmanship.

Crystal-clear Mamont is like no other vodka.  As a special touch, cedar nuts are added as they used to be eaten by the mammoths who roamed the area.

Today, like the unique tusk-shaped bottle, they are a reminder of Mamont’s Siberian heritage.

The Itkul Distillery is Siberia’s oldest distillery, founded in 1868 at the River Itkul, Altai Region.

Konstantin Platonov, a wealthy Russian scientist from St. Petersburg, founded the distillery together with Gregoriy Badyn, a merchant of the second guild.

Today, the Itkul Distillery is the only distillery in the whole of Russia to produce alcohol from pure malt.

To most people, Siberia is a remote and mysterious land that stretches from the Urals to the Pacific and from the borders of China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan to the Arctic.

Few have experienced its uncommonly wild and haunting beauty, unspoiled forests, lakes, rivers, and the Altai Mountains.

In 2002, the Yukagir Mammoth was unearthed in Yakutia, Arctic Siberia, having spent 18,00 years in the ice.

Nomadic, like man, the Mammoth is known to have travelled thousands of kilometres across a vast region that would be their homeland: Wild Siberia. http://www.mamontvodka.com/rituel/

Celebrated in legends, they have played a significant role in Russian culture and heritage.

In fact, the English word “Mammoth” comes from the Russian “Mamont”.

In Russia, vodka is drunk neat and chilled, but not frozen, over a long meal. Usually, complementary salty or sour appetizers, such as famous pickled vegetables or fruit are served.

Traditionally, vodka is drunk from glasses that can hold 100 grams, i.e., 10 cl and in Russia known as «stopka» or «sto gram».

The glass is emptied in one draught, while holding one’s breath and something small is savored straight away. Before drinking, a toast is given.

Moniack Mead Quick View

Moniack Mead

Rating:
Moniack Mead is a traditional honey mead which is produced at Moniack Castle by Highland Wineries, and is said to be one of the best meads being made in modern times. Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks known in history and, like all meads, Moniack Mead is produced through the process of fermenting honey. An interesting fact about mead is that it is traditionally drunk for the month after a wedding which is where the word “honeymoon” came from. Moniack Mead has a lovely, lingering and smooth flavour with elements of caramel and fermented honey. Our recommendation is that this mead is best served either chilled or if you prefer as a aperitif. 75cl bottle
