Description

Mara Martin Godello

Mara Martin Godello by Martín Códax is a clean and vivid straw-yellow colour.

The local varietal Godello has aromas of hay, apple and pear. Intense hints of wild flowers and subtle nuances of lime citrus dominates.

On the palate Mara Martin Godello is intense and upfront. An attractive depth and structure derives from lees contact, and a long, persistent finish.

Mara Martin Godello by Martín Códax, comes from the Monterrei DO. This region is further inland from Rías Baixas in northwest Spain. http://www.martincodax.com/blog/en/bodega/

The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.

The wine has an intense spicy bouquet, and it especially offers a very good value.

Native to Galicia, Godello is a local variety with huge potential to make flavourful, distinctive wines. Furthermore it especially retains the purity and freshness for which the region’s more famous variety, Albariño, is especially known.

Monterrei is particularly suitable to the production of aromatic white wines, thanks to the cooling influence of both the sea and the extensive local river network.

Bodegas Martín Códax dates back to 1986 and the names derives from the most known Galician troubadour whose medieval poems, the oldest of Galician-Portuguese language, are preserved.

In the poems, the troubadour sings to love and to the sea mostly of this coastline.

Ethos

Since it’s founding, Bodegas Martín Códax supports its people, its land and its culture.

Hence this producer promotes their culture and tradition in more than 40 countries over the world.

A project that started with the dream and efforts of a group of winegrowers is now a reality. Most of all it is this reality which has let Bodegas Martín Códax become a symbol of Galician wines inside or outside of our borders/country.

Martín Códax especially focuses on the environment, always looking for the sustainable option and reducing its carbon footprint. Furthermore, its I+d+i projects aim to reduce the environmental impact in viticulture and to combat the effects of climate change.

On the palate, it is fresh but has surprising depth and a lovely peachy fruit character. A lively, lemonyzest finish offsets the ripe fruit on the palate.
