Paul Jaboulet Aine St Joseph Le Grand Pompee is a deep ruby red in colour, with youthful violet lights.
On the nose, Paul Jaboulet Aine St Joseph Le Grand Pompee is concentrated, with perfumes of ripe, red fruit, sweet spices and liquorice, rounded tannins support ripe, red fruit characters on the palate.

Today, there is a renewed sense of energy and purpose. In early 2006, the Frey family bought Jaboulet and implemented sweeping changes to return Jaboulet to the summit of quality Rhône producers.
Winemaking stresses severe selection, dramatically lower yields, long and steady fermentations and aging in newer barrels. The wines are rich and dense, with remarkable balance and finesse: Rhône grapes in full song.
The name Saint-Joseph red and white of Maison Paul Jaboulet Elder was borrowed from the “Legend of the centuries” by Victor Hugo in the 9th century, the Great Pompey faithful companion of Charlemagne, fought at his side Moors on the right bank of the Rhone.
In this battle, there is a famous verse: “And wine, that wine beloved Pompey the Great”. Soil: The vineyard of 5 ha and is located in Tournon Limony on light soils of schist and gneiss on a granite base.
Grape varieties: Syrah. Age of vines:10 to 30 years approximately.
Winemaking: Stalking, crushing and control alcoholic fermentation temperatures;maceration of 3-4 weeks. Ageing: 9 months in oak barrels, 15% new wood.
Yields: 35 hl / ha. Tasting: Visual aspect:Deep ruby with purple highlights. Bouquet: Rich and concentrated ripe red fruits; sweet spices; final with liquorice notes.
Taste: Harmonious; . frank with rounded tannins Food pairing: Sliced ??duck breast with his blackberry sauce Filet mignon of veal crusted Picota guinea fowl with red peppers temperature: 16-18 °. Shelf life: 5-10 years approximately.
