More Information

Simonnet Febvre Saint Bris Sauvignon

Simonnet Febvre Saint Bris Sauvignon has a pale golden robe with green tints. The nose is intense with notes of exotic fruits and fresh grass. The mouth is more mineral and rich with a pleasant freshness. Best drunk young, as an aperitif or with goat cheese.

The location of the Saint-Bris vineyards allows the Sauvignon grapes to fully express their range of aromas and the minerality of the soils. They are often planted in colder areas in order to enable a slow ripening and therefore the best expression of the vineyards' strong character

Founded in 1840, Maison Simonnet-Febvre owns vineyards in Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu and Chablis Grand Cru Preuses. It is a traditional Chablis winery amongst the oldest in the area. Bought by Maison Louis Latour in 2003, it is nowadays led by Jean-Philippe Archambaud who managed to inspire a new dynamic while keeping its independence by running it as a separate enterprise with its own house style.

Nowadays Simonnet-Febvre produces a wide range of wines expressing the different terroirs of Chablis. Maison Simonnet-Febvre's style is asserted with the same conviction throughout the whole range of wines, from our famous Saint-Bris to our outstanding Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos".

Owning 15 hectares of vineyards in the Auxois area which is halfway between Chablis and Beaune, Simonnet-Febvre is trying to restore the former grandeur to this once glorious terroir of Burgundy. Tthese vineyards were destroyed when the phylloxera crisis hit the area in the 19th century. It has progressively been replanted and has today regained its prestige.

Simonnet-Febvre offers a wide range of village appellations from these vineyards - Saint-Bris, Irancy - as well as regional appellations such as Bourgogne Epineuil made of Pinot Noir, Bourgogne Vézelay made of Chardonnay and Bourgogne Aligoté made of the grape of the same name.

Saint Bris is the only AOC white wine of Burgundy made of Sauvignon Blanc. A popular wine, it is lovely and easy to drink with fresh aromas of exotic fruits, cut grass and citrus fruits.
