Tahbilk ESP Shiraz
Tahbilk ESP Shiraz has rich, dark fruit scents with a mix of spice leap from the glass.
Tahbilk ESP Shiraz has powerful and rich black fruit flavours on the palate with excellent depth of fruit, layered complexity with notes of spice, pepper and liquorice.
The overall balance of Tahbilk ESP Shiraz is rich yet still elegant, with silky tannins and a long, lingering taste of blackberries that provide a satisfying finish
The Shiraz grapes for this ESP ‘reserve cuvee’ were sourced mainly from vines planted on the Estate during the 1930s.
The iconic Australian Tahbilk Winery dates back to 1860 and has some of the oldest ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Shiraz vines in the world, as well as boasting the largest single acreage of Marsanne.
The name Tahbilk is derived from the aboriginal word ‘Tabilk-tabilk’ – meaning ‘place of many watering holes’ – as the vineyards are located in the unique Nagambie Lakes sub-region of central Victoria.
Nagambie Lakes is one of only six regions in the world where the meso-climate of the vineyards is significantly influenced by inland water mass.
Established in 1860 Tahbilk is one of Australia’s most beautiful and historic family owned wineries.
Located in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria (120kms north of Melbourne), one of the nation’s premium viticultural areas, the property comprises some 1,214 hectares of rich river flats with a frontage of 11 kms to the Goulburn River and 8 kms of permanent backwaters and creeks.
Purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, Tahbilk is now home to 5 generations.
The numerous lakes and lagoons linked by the Goulburn River create a moderate, cooler climate within Victoria.

“From vines with an average age of 35 years, matured in a mix of French and American oak used. Here the aromas and flavours are very complex, with blackberry somewhere in the centre of a globe spinning around in an exotic mix of spices, licorice and herbs; the magic lies in the fresh, almost juicy, finish. 97 Points”
James Halliday – www.winecompanion.com.au
“Deep coloured with complex savoury black pepper, leather, mulberry and eucalypt fruit. Dry, full-bodied yet with elegant fruit, subtle oak and a long elegant finish and good tannin backbone.
