Tahbilk Marsanne

Tahbilk Marsanne offers aromas of citrus blossom, lemons and grapefruit that are reflected on a fresh and energetic palate of stone fruits, apple and pear.

Tahbilk Marsanne is minerally and tight in its youth, it is sure to become a wine of generosity and honeyed complexity with some bottle age.

Tahbilk has a long history of producing fine wines with the help of rich ferric-oxide/sandy loam soils and temperate climate.

With over 150 years of winemaking experience you are sure to find some absolute gems in the Tahbilk repertoire.

Background:-

Whether it be ‘1860 Vines’, ‘Eric Stevens Purbrick’ or the (far from) standard Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, there is a history and character with both varietals that goes back generations.

The iconic Australian Tahbilk Winery dates back to 1860 and has some of the oldest ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Shiraz vines in the world, as well as boasting the largest single acreage of Marsanne.

The name Tahbilk is derived from the aboriginal word ‘Tabilk-tabilk’ - meaning ‘place of many wateringholes’ - as the vineyards are located in the unique Nagambie Lakes sub-region of central Victoria.

Nagambie Lakes is one of only six regions in the world where the meso-climate of the vineyards is significantly influenced by inland water mass.

The numerous lakes and lagoons linked by the Goulburn River create a moderate, cooler climate within Victoria.

Throughout its career, Tahbilk has obtained over 1000 awards for wines produced on the Estate at all the world's principal exhibitions.

These awards include the Diploma of Honour, the highest award obtainable at the Greater London Exhibition of 1899.

Also First Order of Merit and Medals in London, Philadelphia, Paris, Bordeaux, Calcutta, Brussels, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Adelaide and Dunedin. http://www.tahbilk.com.au/our-story.html

Over 60 firsts have been obtained at the Royal Shows of Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, and since the introduction of the medal awards in 1965 and until the end of 2013, Tahbilk wines have been awarded 54 Trophies, 247 Gold, 559 Silver, 1900 Bronze, 7 Very Highly Commended, 11 Highly Commended and 45 Commended medals.
