Description
Talisker 10 YO
Talisker 10 YO, the colour is deep gold and a nose that has powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, a citrus sweetness.
Talisker 10 YO has a rich dried-fruit sweetness with smoke and strong barley malt flavours, warming and intense.
At the back of the mouth Talisker 10 YO is an explosion of pepper, a huge, long, warming peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
Talisker was built in 1830 by brothers Kenneth and Hugh MacAskill.
As sons of the local doctor they were part of the establishment, so it’s unlikely they would have embraced the fine art of distillation so bravely if it had still been an illegal practice.
But for those that took the trouble of obtaining a license it wasn’t anymore, so distillation at Talikser was started in 1831. The distillery was transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD, predecessors of Diageo) in 1930.
The oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, set on the shores of Loch Harport with dramatic views of the Cuillins. This alluring, sweet, full-bodied single malt is so easy to enjoy, and like Skye itself, so hard to leave.
Skye offers so much to all of its visitors, whether you want to come and relax in some of Scotland’s top class restaurants and accommodation, Kinloch Lodge or The Three Chimneys or for the more energetic visitor, walking and climbing in the Cuillins or The Quirang in Trotternish.
Travel from Fort William to Mallaig and enjoy a sail on a CalMac ferry to Armadale and stop off at Armadale Castle in Sleat or drive through Kintail, passing the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, to Kyle and over the Skye Bridge.
After visiting Talisker why not take a drive to the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle or Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the Clan MacLeod.
Wildlife and scenery are spectacular no matter what the weather. Sea eagles, dolphins, whales and otters are all seen regularly with the Coral Beaches, Talisker Bay and Neist Point being some of the best places to spot them.
