Talisker Distillers Edition Amorosso Finish 2006 45.8%

Talisker Distillers Edition Amorosso Finish 2006 45.8% is a full-bodied and wonderfully rich version of Talisker.

Talisker Distillers Edition Amorosso Finish 2006 45.8% has smoke and spice on the nose with hints of bitter Seville orange marmalade and cracked black pepper.

Quite an oily nose, Thick, rich fruit notes on the palate.

A mix of marmalade and wood smoke meld with allspice linseed oil, cracked black pepper and hints of dried herbs. Long spicy finish with black pepper and butterscotch.

Talisker was built in 1830 by brothers Kenneth and Hugh MacAskill. As sons of the local doctor they were part of the establishment, so it’s unlikely they would have embraced the fine art of distillation so bravely if it had still been an illegal practice.

But for those that took the trouble of obtaining a license it wasn’t anymore, so distillation at Talisker was started in 1831. The distillery was transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD, predecessors of Diageo) in 1930.

Talisker Distillers Edition Amorosso Finish 2006 45.8% is the latest release from the windswept distillery on the Isle of Skye. The island’s challenging landscape is richly varied yet always beautiful, from softer shores, to the dark jagged hills of the Cuillin and the remote peninsulas in the North. Imagine a single malt of such contrasts and you have TALISKER.

The liquid has been made from a combination of toasted and refill American oak casks to accentuate the has smoke and spice on the nose with hints of bitter Seville orange marmalade and cracked black pepper, and sweeter notes of Talisker, whilst delivering the gentle smoky and salty flavours that are so unique to whiskies from the distillery.

There are some things which just go perfectly together, certain whiskies and certain foods are a true match made in heaven. When it comes to Talisker you can’t go past smoked salmon, the two are made for each other. The pairing brings out the smoky and briny flavours in both elements. The salmon, with its smooth, velvety texture balances the malt’s strong flavour and highlights the subtle fragrant notes. When served with blue cheese the resulting flavour can be just as striking. For those with a sweeter tooth why not try some dark chocolate?

An incredible dram from Glenfarclas, we can't say enough about it. It's a juicy, Christmas cake of a whisky, absolutely huge! This 15 year old matured in sherry wood, a superb malt which earned 95 points from Jim Murray. A lot of the whisky in this is clearly much older than 15 years, this is a really sherried dram and we love it.
