Tandem Ars In Vitro

Tandem Ars In Vitro means in Latin ‘art in glass’ and is cherry red in colour, this mountain wine displays a powerful expression of the terroir. Mineral with intense violet aromas that are underpinned by notes of cherries and strawberries. On the palate, it is a fresh wine with a long and persistent finish.

Compañía Vitivinícola Tandem was founded in January 2003 by Alicia Eyaralar, José María Fraile and a small group of wine-loving relatives and friends. After extensive careers in winemaking and marketing, first together and later separately in different wineries, there was a growing interest in starting up Tandem.

Tandem means “at last” and represents the aspiration of its two partners and promoters, to fulfil a dream and the mission which they have taken upon themselves.

Their mission is to follow a different path from the rest, which is committed to respect for nature, meticulous care in everything they do and working with the least intervention possible. All this with the aim of making wines that are elegant and have personality.

From its elevated position, Tandem boasts an exceptional view of the Yerri Valley. A beautiful fertile valley with a cold climate and plentiful winds which favour viticulture with minimal intervention.

The valley enjoys a continental climate influenced by the Atlantic due to its proximity to the Bay of Biscay. Winters are very cold and summers very hot. Unlike other areas in the D.O., summer nights are cool allowing the grapes to ripen very gradually. As a result they harvest some three or four weeks later than the Navarra DO’s southern region.

Tandem’s grapes thus acquire a natural acidity which enables elegant and fresh wines to be produced.

Respect for nature is an obsession at Tandem. They follow the precepts of sustainable viticulture which uses the least intervention possible while at the same time maintaining the vineyard’s health and viability. The natural conditions of the valley ensure that pesticide treatments can be kept to the minimum and they basically take the form of sulphur and copper, avoiding products made of synthetic chemicals.
