Tarquins Seadog Navy Strength Cornish Gin

Tarquins Seadog Navy Strength Cornish Gin is a contemporary take on a classic London Dry but with the extra kick of being at navy strength, they use fragrant handpicked Devon violets and fresh orange zest to deliver an aromatic sensation unlike any other.

They are an independent, family company handcrafting Gin and Pastis in tiny batches (the old-fashioned way) by the coast of north Cornwall. At the heart of their process lies a special, flame-fired, copper pot still called Tamara, goddess of the Tamar.

Together with a harmonious balance of precision and flair, they are able to produce spirits that are truly exceptional.

Tarquin, their founder, pioneer and head distiller is so proud of what they create that he puts his name on every bottle.

They like to think the result is comparable to stumbling upon a beautiful orange blossom in the middle of a crisp, dry pine forest.

Only the best and most pure spirit (the heart) makes it into Tarquin’s Gin, which is diluted to bottling strength at 42% with Cornish spring water.

One unusual ingredient is the Devon violet. From these I take the delicate leaves, which add a vibrant green freshness to the gin and create something deliciously unique.”

Tarquin, Head Distiller

Their juniper is from Kosovo, it is fresh and earthy/woody, but also quite floral. To complement, they use lemon-sherberty coriander seeds from Bulgaria, rather than the hot and spicy Moroccon variety.

The citrus notes come from the fresh fruit zests of sweet orange, lemon and grapefruit, from wherever they are in season.

They also use angelica root from Poland, orris root from Morocco, green cardamom seeds from Guatemala, bitter almond from Morocco, cinnamon from Madagascar, liquorice root from Uzbekistan. And Devon violets from the garden.
