Thunevin-Calvet Cuvee Constance Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2016

Thunevin-Calvet Cuvee Constance Cotes du Roussillon Villages is almost floral with a nose bursting with red fruit aromas. the palate is full and sumptuous with deep blackberry fruit rounded by subtle spice notes and sweet tannins.

The Thunevin-Calvet vineyard began in 2001; it came as a result of a meeting between Jean Luc Thunevin, owner of the Château Valandraud vineyard in Saint Émilion, and Jean Roger Calvet, a wine grower from Maury. Today there are 65 hectares of vines which are harvested in the Maury area.

The soil in Maury is schistose marl. The domaine has also acquired a few plots on a clay-limestone soil area and more recently some plots on granite soil, in Lesquerde. The following make up the vine population: Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache Blanc et Gris, Macabeu. This selection of soils means they produce fruity wines with real character, freshness and acidity.

The harvest of the Domaine Calvet-Thunevin are made by hand with sorting in the vineyard and cellar. The wines are made, depending on the vintage, or tank-cement or in barrels.

In order to protect the environment, their vines are not treated with weed killer or chemical fertilisers. Furthermore, their vintages are produced and turned into wine in a store which is equipped with solar panels, a ground-coupled heat exchanger for the store’s temperature and a collector of wine effluents.
