Description

Delicate aromas of orange blossom, citrus and stonefruit blend with hints of honeysuckle. Flavours of white peach mingle well with the subtle peppery spice notes. Mineral complexity gives this wine a clean and crisp appeal. The balance of the fruit, acidity and phenolics work very well together and lead to a long dry finish.

Tinpot Hut Mckee Vineyard Gruner Veltliner : Now an established favourite, Fiona Turner’s Tinpot Hut began in 2003 when Fiona and husband Hamish established their own 50 acre vineyard in the emerging sub-region of Blind River, just south of Marlborough‘s Awatere Valley - one of the founding properties in the area.

The original Tinpot Hut is an historic mustering hut nestled high in the hills of Marlborough.

Since graduating with a Master of Science (Hons) Fiona Turner has immersed herself in the wine industry.

Now, with over 20 years winemaking experience in Marlborough – along with vintages in Hawkes Bay, Central Otago and California – Fiona focuses on fine aromatics, balance and integration when making our Tinpot Hut wine.

Originally part of a large sheep farming station, Fiona acknowledged the origins of her Home Block by naming her range of wines after the historic "Tinpot Hut"; a Marlborough landmark frequented by local high country musterers.

“That teams of highly attuned sommeliers keep on picking it out for Gold, blind, year after year, vintage after vintage is a truly remarkable testament to the vineyards and the winemaker” Sommelier Wine Awards, UK
