Description

Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc

Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc especially has intense aromas of blackcurrant, crushed lemongrass and thyme. In addition we can find passion fruit and melon highlights.

Underlying ripe fruit and mineral notes from the grapes grown in the Blind River sub region of Marlborough. They combine especially well with the more tropical notes from the Wairau Valley vineyards.

Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc is a stylish and pleasantly rich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Fine balance of acidity leading to a lingering finish. http://www.tinpothut.co.nz/About+Us.html

Fiona Turner’s Tinpot Hut began in 2003. Fiona and husband Hamish established their own 50 acre vineyard in the emerging sub-region of Blind River. This area is just south of Marlborough’s Awatere Valley.

The original Tinpot Hut is an historic mustering hut nestled high in the hills of Marlborough.

Tinpot Hut’s owner and winemaker Fiona Turner began developing her Blind River “Home Block” vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley with husband Hamish in 2005.

Now fully mature, the Home Block’s Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Riesling especially are the foundation of Tinpot Hut wines today.

In addition, parcels of Blind River Grüner Veltliner and Hawkes Bay Syrah add also varietal diversity to the range.

Originally part of a large sheep farming station, Fiona acknowledged the origins of her Home Block by naming her range of wines after the historic “Tinpot Hut”; a Marlborough landmark especially frequented by local high country musterers.

This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc especially has signature blackcurrant, lemongrass & fresh thyme flavours with a distinctive mineral palate.

Domaine des Ballandors Quincy 2020

This is the village adjacent to Sancerre and Pouilly Fume where wines of similar style are made but because of Quincy’s ‘lesser’ name at much reduced cost. This wine is a testament to that; the flavours and aromas achieved in this wine are equivalent to any top flight Sancerre, with ‘grippy’ edgy grapefruit notes and steely crisp fruit. When Anton Beukes, winemaker at the Môreson Winery in South Africa, tasted this wine at supper, he said; ‘This is the wine I would love to make’ - Anton makes some very serious wines, so what an accolade! Winner of Best French White Wine at ‘France under one roof’ London 2005.
