Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish has been finished off for about 12 months in Sherry Butts, which are 500 litres in size.

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish has an intense, dark, rich brown whisky – there are hints of toffee and apples with an edge of cereal notes. On the palate Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish – vanilla and toffee abound with dates and spice.

Tullibardine is one of the youngest Scottish distilleries; it was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delmé-Evans and C. I. Barrett.

It is situated in Perthshire and is actually on of the easiest distilleries to visit being further south than most.

“Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside at the gateway to the Highlands, we believe our Distillery is a real gem as it continues to operate in the traditional way, without modern day computer technology, giving visitors a real insight to the whisky distillation process”.

the distillery has taken 15 years to reach the Danny Burn, which is the spring where we take our water from. This is the same water bottled by the renowned mineral water company, Highland Spring.

In 1947 William Delme Evans began converting the original brewery buildings that remained into a distillery, and in 1949 the first spirit was distilled at the newly named Tullibardine Distillery. The name in Gaelic means ‘lookout hill’, and was taken from the small medieval chapel built in 1446, which is close to the distillery.

In 1953 the distillery was sold to Brodie Hepburn, who were themselves later sold to Invergordon Distillers.

For the next few decades production continued using the original two stills and maturing the spirit in sherry casks. In 1973 the capacity was increased with the addition of two more stills. http://www.tullibardine.com/history.html

Recently Tullibardine began a new chapter in its history as in November 2011 the distillery was purchased by an independent family company already involved in the Whisky Industry.

There is no doubt that the future of Tullibardine is in safe hands. With a wide portfolio of stock ranging back as far as 1952, Tullibardine is a lovely sweet, elegant and complex malt whisky.

You can almost taste the coastal flora in Clynelish Single Malt Scotch Whisky, with its crisp, medium- bodied, mustard-fresh style. Although you won’t find Islay’s powerful smokiness here, there is just a trace of it lingering. It’s said Clynelish whisky is closer to an Island style than other mainland malts, with a complex and fragrant nose and an agreeable long finish that leaves a lingering fresh-fruity flavour. Not a heavyweight, it is yet deliciously drinkable, and perfect as an aperitif.
