Vermut Lustau Blanco

Vermut Lustau Blanco recovers the Jerez Region’s Vermouth tradition by making a drink in which Sherry plays the key role. A perfect blend of two wines: a dry, mineral and crisp Fino sherry and a sweet and floral Moscatel wine.
Intense and bright yellow colour with golden reflections. On the nose it shows floral, citrusy and herbaceous notes over a yeasty and
mineral base. The finish is bitter and clean with a long, nutty and refreshing aftertaste.
Sergio Martínez knows the wines and the soleras that Lustau has built up perfectly. For over 10 years he has done the daily rounds alongside Manuel Lozano, chalk and venencia in hand, along the aisles which make up the Lustau solera ageing casks.

The love and care of Almacenista for their activity is shown in their limited Soleras of the finest and rarest Sherries. This Soleras are still operated by the original artisanal methods. All Almacenistas existing today are small family owned operations and most of them are run as a hobby or a secondary source of income, being their core business usually based on a completely different activity.

Lustau was founded in 1896 as an Almacenista itself and has wanted to pay a tribute to this anonymous role in the Sherry trade by creating this very special range of Sherries. During the 80’s Lustau identified a group of Almacenistas from the three towns of the Sherry D.O. and selected small batches from very limited Soleras of rare old Sherries to be bottled under the Lustau Brand.

Today Lustau Almacenista range of Sherries are considered among the best wines in the world and have been recognised by the most reputed competitions winning top awards.

Over 10 years analysing, understanding and caring for the jewels and the secrets which are hidden between the walls of this bodega.

Serve between 7-9ºC (44-48ºF) on the rocks and garnish it with a green olive. The perfect apéritif if it is accompanied with olives, nuts or any snacks.

Fonseca Terra Prima

Silky-smooth aromas of crushed red berry fruits and chocolate with little herbal nuances. On the palate that herbal quality is still there but some pure, velvety, cherry and plum fruit fills in nicely, the subtle sweetness developing but staying balanced by a certain acidity and a fairly nimble, lighter-bodied character. A spicy finish too in a style that is not heavy and very sippable. 89/100 Tom Cannavan, www.wine-pages.com
