Vina Cobos Bramare Marchiori Vineyard Chardonnay
Vina Cobos Bramare Marchiori Vineyard Chardonnay is a refined Chardonnay of brilliant golden colour and green hues. A bouquet of inviting white nectarine, fresh pineaaple and honeysuckle, in balance with delicate white flowers. The palate is rich, with elegant acidity, great volume and flavours of green apple, wildflower honey, pie crust and delicate oak spice.
Californian trail-blazer Paul Hobbs visited Argentina in 1989 and fell in love with its terroir and culture. Viña Cobos is the result of a shared dream between Paul and his winemaking partners – Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud.
Founded in 1997, Viña Cobos utilises old vines, careful vineyard selection, low yields and an unerring empathy for raw materials. The result is a range of expressive, balanced, world-class wines with a true sense of place.
The inaugural 1999 vintage received the highest score to date for an Argentinean wine upon release. Subsequent releases earned 98 points from Wine Advocate magazine. The wines continue to earn outstanding plaudits from the world press. Viña Cobos has an extensive team of grape growers located in different outstanding winemaking regions in Mendoza. They work closely together and are committed to quality and a respect for the terroir.
The vineyard is located at 995mt / 3265 ft., in the district of Perdriel. It is an exceedingly balanced vineyard, with vine age between 18 to 80 years old depending on the lot.
Soils have deep well-drained layers, with textures varying from clay-loam soils –where there are stones in the surface-, to sand-loam soil – which is slightly alkaline. Planted in this vineyard are Chardonnay and Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, all with different vineyard management according to the soil profile.
The Marchiori vineyard is emblematic for Viña Cobos: where the grapes to produce highly distinguished wines are cultivated. Nico Marchiori Italian immigrant, owner of the vineyard and father of Andrea Marchiori, was a persistent visionary. He had taken special care of this vineyard with the conviction that Argentine viticulture quality would someday be considered as of the utmost importance.
