Weingut Max Ferdinand Richter Signature Riesling has green apple & citrus notes on the palate with a lean & zesty raciness, a medium sweet style. A lovely, long, mineral finish.

The Richter family own 40 acres of vineyards in the central Mosel area and having owned vineyards here for the last 300 years, the winery is steeped in history. The family’s goal is to combine progress and tradition in a harmonious way and with a reputation for producing some of the regions’ best Riesling, there is no doubt that they have achieved their goal.

At Richter, quality is paramount- concentration is increased by severe pruning and even a green harvest in prolific years. Vintage is later than most growers in the region and all picking is done by hand. The work in the cellar shows the same attention to detail, with traditional winemaking practices allowing the grapes to express their full personality, setting them up for a long life. Mosel wine doesn't get much better than this!

“Per a spera ad astra”

(A rough road leads to the stars) – Perhaps nowhere else than in the exceptionally challenging vineyards around the town of Erden is that old saying more justified. The vineyards here cling close to steep, rocky slopes that are only accessible by narrow stairs (Treppchen) carved into the hillside, but the hard work of tending to these vines is well rewarded. The ferruginous, red slate stone terroir produces racy wines with great complexity, showing intense yet spicy minerality and balance. As the saying professes, the route to the highest quality Riesling is reached by a treacherous, steep path.

The challenge of cultivating vines on the steep, slate slopes of Mosel is overcome by fastidious handwork, small crop sizes, all-natural fertilizers and sustainable farming practices. Additionally, all harvesting is done by hand.
