Angoris Pinot Grigio Villa Locatelli 2022
Angoris Pinot Grigio Villa Locatelli
Angoris Pinot Grigio Villa Locatelli has a deep yellow colour, almost golden. Floral notes mix with rich fruit aromas of apricot, melon and peach; slight chalkiness. To the palate it is soft; light-to-medium bodied; mineral. 12 days fermentation in stainless steel plus 5 months aging on the lees to achieve a creamier texture and a greater complexity. Incredibly versatile for magnificent food & wine pairings; try it with fish dishes, or vegetarian pastas.
Since the 1860s, Pinot Grigio has been one of the most important grapes of the region.
History of Tenuta di Angoris
In order to thank him for his service in the 30 Years War, Locatelli Locatelli was given 300 fields in an area of Cormòns. That area was known as “Langoris” by then Emperor Ferdinand III in 1648. At the time this area of Friuli was indeed part of the Hapsburg Empire.
From this time on, the quiet woods, green hills and gentle vineyards to the Tenuta di Angoris became a retreat for the royalty and èlite from throughout the Hapsburg Empire. Villa Locatelli, which still dominates the estate, became a symbol of quality and hospitality. The wines that came from the estate made their way across the royal courts of Europe.
Over 3 centuries have passed and the Tenuta di Angoris is now one of the most prestigious Friuli wineries. Today it is managed with renewed enthusiasm by the entrepreneurial spirit of another Locatelli family.
Claudia Locatelli renewed in the latest years the wines and the looks of the Tenuta di Angoris.
Respect for traditions that date hundreds of years. Respect for the rhythms of life dictated by seasons and by nature. It’s not easy to remember these guiding principles in a fast-moving, ever-changing modern world.
Claudia Locatelli and family strive to balance these goals every day. Passion for those products of a land that has given so much for so long. Dedication towards improvement. A marriage between tradition and innovation.
