Casa Valduga Terroir Cabernet Franc 2017
Casa Valduga Terroir Cabernet Franc
Casa Valduga Terroir Cabernet Franc has aromas from the use 0f the French oak that are evident, with special mention to the notes of coffee and chocolate. The nuances of ripe fruit also present themselves with remarkable intensity, especially black plum. On the palate it is typical of the variety, with an an elegant structure, where acidity and tannins balance perfectly with alcohol. The aftertaste is intense, being marked by the notes coming from the oak.
The Valduga family emigrated from Italy to Brazil in 1875 and since then has been producing wine: first for their own consumption, then in bulk, and now as one of the country’s leading producers of premium bottled wine. Despite the growth of the business, the family remains involved in every aspect of the production, even winery design. As Brazil starts to make waves on the export market, Casa Valduga is one of the pioneering producers setting the pace.
Grapes were grown in Valduga’s own vineyards in the Campanha region, which borders Uruguay. This is Brazil’s oldest vineyard region, as well as its lowest-lying, at 210 metres above sea level; soils are granite and limestone. The grapes were hand-harvested and then underwent a further selection in the winery.
