The nose is immediate, full and brooding with a powerful kick of concentrated black fruits, roasted coffee and a baked earth quality that seems almost feral and animalistic. The palate is powerful, robust and grips well, the fruit is concentrated, almost jammy, but overlaid with savoury notes of Crème de Mure, black olive, cracked pepper, wild herbs and liquorice. The flavour profile is like an assault, broodingly rich, dark and full, with sinew and muscle overlaid across the extremely ripe fruit. The tannins are big, rounded and plush yet in balance with the concentrated fruit and freshness, giving the impression of power and elegance in perfect balance. A wine of great complexity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink from 2024-2035.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eProducer\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"\u003eThis is the finest estate in Gigondas and certainly one of the finest estates in the Southern Rhône. 25 hectares of vines, with an average age of 65-70 years, sitting in its own elevated hidden bowl at between 250-400m, facing north west and surrounded by 100 hectares of wild garrigue.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"\u003eWe have worked with Domaine les Pallières and the late Pierre Roux for over 30 years and were delighted when Daniel and Frédéric Brunier purchased the Domaine in 1998.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"\u003eHuge improvements and investments have been made both in the vineyards and the cellar. A ring of small fermentation vessels has been installed, both wooden and concrete, so that they can pick very small parcels at optimum ripeness. Little new oak is used and the wines are matured in large foudres.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"\u003eTwo cuvées are made. The very old vine \u003cstrong\u003e‘Racines’ \u003c\/strong\u003ecuvée from vines with an average of 100 years, grown around the house. Here the soils are clay and limestone. The second cuvée \u003cstrong\u003e‘Terrasse du Diable’\u003c\/strong\u003e, is from grapes grown on the higher terraces where the vines are 60-80 year old and the soil is a mix of clay, chalk and volcanic schistes.
