Description

Finca Montepedroso Verdelho Rueda

Finca Montepedroso Verdelho Rueda is a vivid expression of the Verdejo grape, with its characteristic notes of fennel, green apple, cut hay and peach.

Finca Montepedroso Verdelho Rueda wine is also imbued with an extra depth and richness in the mouth.

Finca Montepedroso Verdelho Rueda is a very satisfying, fuller-bodied style of Rueda.

South of the river Duero and the city of Valladolid, the land rises to a high plain. Much of the province (and ancient kingdom) of Castile is planted with cereals, but in a triangle between the villages of Rueda, La Seca and Serrada, the soil is very poor and covered with pebbles the size of eggs.

84 grape growers own a total of around 400 hectares in this ‘golden triangle’ of perfect soils.

Finca Montepedroso is the latest venture of the enterprising Martínez Bujanda family. This Rueda property was bought in 2008, with 2010 being the début vintage.

Following the family philosophy, the wine comes solely from the estate’s own vineyards. The vineyard consists of twenty-five hectares of Verdejo, planted at 750 metres above sea level.

Familia Martínez; following its expansion philosophy of elaborating quality wines in new areas; in April 2008 purchased this new vineyard thus, beginning a new wine challenge of producing world class wines.

This time, in the Denomination de Origen Rueda located in Castilla-Leon.

The Familia Martínez Bujanda are very excited about this new project which holds the same philosophy as the rest of the wineries within the group: they own the vineyards in privileged sites and through careful elaboration and innovation aim towards producing only the highest quality wines.

Their investment in Rueda will contribute to reinforce our prestigious portfolio, and with this white wine will complete this particular range while answering market demands. Finca Martinez Bujanda

Their new Rueda winery, consists of 25 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 750 meters; Familia Martínez Bujanda will elaborate a white wine, made from the prestigious Verdejo grape.

Domaine des Ballandors Quincy Quick View

Domaine des Ballandors Quincy 2018

This is the village adjacent to Sancerre and Pouilly Fume where wines of similar style are made but because of Quincy’s ‘lesser’ name at much reduced cost. This wine is a testament to that; the flavours and aromas achieved in this wine are equivalent to any top flight Sancerre, with ‘grippy’ edgy grapefruit notes and steely crisp fruit. When Anton Beukes, winemaker at the Môreson Winery in South Africa, tasted this wine at supper, he said; ‘This is the wine I would love to make’ - Anton makes some very serious wines, so what an accolade! Winner of Best French White Wine at ‘France under one roof’ London 2005.
