Ala Blanca Vermentino Poderi Parpinello
Producer/Vineyard
The winery “Poderi Parpinello" has been cultivated for over three generations, with a passion and love for creating high quality wines.
By using innovative wine making techniques, they seek to create charismatic wines whilst paying respect to the Sardinian land.
Currently the company is ran by father Giampaolo Parpinello and son Paolo, who manage 15 hectares of vines.
The vineyards are located on gentle slopes between Alghero and Sassari. Here the vines are planted to a high density in a mixture of geological formations such as calcareous marne, conglomerate and sandstone.
Grapes
Where Vermentino is the most widely planted white grape, Cannonau is the most important and exclusive red grape wine natural to Sardinia. It is thought to be the oldest wine in the whole of the Mediterranean.
Winemaking
Traditionally the wine is vinified with a temperature controlled maceration and fermentation at 15°C.
Furthermore the wine has no contact with wood barrels during vinification in order to preserve the varietal characteristics of the Vermentino grape. This is done also with the hope of showing the characteristics of the land from which is hails.
