Jane Ventura is a family-run winery in Lower Penedès (el Baix Penedès) with a tradition that dates back to 1914. It all began with Josep Jané, the grandfather of Benjamí Jané Ventura.

The second generation, Albert Jané Jané, became prominent wine distributors and acquired the current winery at El Vendrell in 1954.

The third generation, Benjamí Jané Ventura, began bottling wines in 1985, and in 1988 started the production of sparkling wines (cavas).

The fourth generation is represented by Gerard Jané Úbeda, an œnologist, who is in charge of the production of today’s Jané Ventura range of prestigious wines and cavas.

The philosophy of each generation has been to treat wine and vines as a way of life –one that is based on respect and admiration for our unique, exceptional natural environment.

This philosophy of Jane Ventura, inspired by this respect for the environment and tradition, is the cornerstone on which the wine-making and cava production are based. At the winery itself, the clear message conveyed by all who work there encapsulates such intangible concepts as culture, landscape and creativity, which although difficult to evaluate, are found in the soul of our wines.

They also have twenty or so vine growing partners who produce grapes for them in the wine regions of Lower Penedès, Upper Penedès, Garraf and Alt Camp, all of which are situated within the Penedès wine appellation.

Two factors impact on their vine-growing: the sea and the mountains. The vines which produce the grapes for their wines are grown at latitudes ranging from sea-level to 700m. The influence of both the sea and high altitude enables their grapes to preserve good acidity, which brings great freshness to the wines.
