Norton Finca La Colonia Coleccion Gruner Veltliner
Engineer Edmund James Palmer Norton arrived in Argentina in 1985 to help build a railway across the Andes and fell in love with the terroir of Mendoza. Making a dramatic change, he decided to found his own vineyard in Luján de Cuyo with vines imported from France.
In 1989 Austrian businessman Gernot Langes-Swarovski is bowled over by the beauty of Mendoza and sees the potential in developing Argentinian wines. He decides to buy Bodega Norton, the region´s only traditional winery surrounded by its own vines.
Under Michael Halstrick, Gernot Langes-Swarovski´s son, a new era begins at the vineyard, with investment and expansion making Bodega Norton one of the first wineries to develop an export market.
In 1997 Bodega Norton acquires one of Mendoza´s largest estates, the 1,000-acre Finca La Colonia, set in the heart of Alto Agrelo, in Luján de Cuyo.
