Chateau de Francs Bordeaux Cotes de Francs
Tasting Note
A great value red from St Emilion's lesser known neighbour, Francs-Côtes de Bordeaux. This wine has intense red and black fruit aromas on the nose, complimented by balanced oak aromas such as vanilla, chocolate and coffee. A full and harmonious wine, harvested from 30 year old vines and a sumptious blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Producer
Co-owned by Dominique Hébrard and Hubert de Bouard (owner of Château Angelus), this 27.5-hectare property is situated on one of the highest hillsides in the Gironde in the Côtes de Francs. The soil is clay-limestone, the vines’ average age is 30 years and the blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
All harvesting is by hand, vinification is in temperature controlled stainless-steel vats and the wines are matured in barrique for 14 months (20% new).
