Balvenie Carribean Cask 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
Balvenie Carribean Cask 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is initially aged in traditional oak whisky casks, this Balvenie whisky is then further matured in old Carribean rum barrels.
In addition this allows further sweetness and complexity to an already smooth and rounded whisky.
Nose: The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Palate: Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
Finish: The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
Overall: Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.
The Balvenie distillery in Dufftown was built in 1892 by W. & J. Grant, owners of the Glenfiddich distillery nearby. More than a century later they are still 'sister stills', owned by the very same company that originally built them; William Grant & Sons.
Producer
Thanks to natural alchemy and centuries-old craftsmanship, The Balvenie is unique among single malts.
The whisky-making process is dedicated to maintaining the Five Rare Crafts and they are the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley. Furthermore they use traditional floor maltings and keep both a coppersmith and a team of coopers on site.
And of course, their Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE presides over the all-important maturation process. Thus making Balvenie products the most hand-crafted of single malts on the market today.
